Masters Degree

M.Sc. Civil Engineering

After my exchange in UBC, I was determined to pursue a Masters degree in Canada to fully specialize as a structural engineer and push my career into more exciting projects and challenges. Several applications later, I now find myself studying and working on my thesis at McGill University in the amazing city of Montreal. I decided to take this opportunity as it was the only university where I was offered a research project that would allow me to combine my structural engineering skills with software development. The project itself is related to the development of a novell collapse simulator for unreinforced masonry structures using physics engines, a game engine component that can simulate real physics in a virtual environment. My thesis and research is focused on the exploration of the implementation of custom contact constitutive models within this software, thereby allowing me dive deeper into a lower level language (C++) while still working on a complex structural engineering topic, never losing sight of what I am most passionate about: resilient structural design.

The courses that I took include:

  • Nonlinear Structural Analysis for Buildings
  • Structural Dynamics
  • Earthquake-Resistant Design
  • Bridge Engineering
  • Wind Engineering

Expected graduation: August 2026
